Why do I have to take a credit counseling course?
The new Bankruptcy Act enacted by Congress requires individuals filing Chapter 7 or 13 bankruptcy to complete a credit counseling course BEFORE filing bankruptcy and prior to receiving their bankruptcy discharge. Our Credit Counseling class meets this requirement.
Why do I have to take a personal financial management or debtor education course?
The new Bankruptcy Act enacted by Congress requires individuals filing Chapter 7 or 13 bankruptcy to complete an instructional course in personal financial management AFTER filing bankruptcy and prior to receiving their bankruptcy discharge. Our Financial Management class meets this requirement.
When do I take the Credit Counseling course?
You need to take the course and receive a certificate of completion in order to file for your bankruptcy. You cannot file for bankruptcy without a certificate of completion.
When do I take the personal financial management or debtor education course?
You should take this course AFTER you file bankruptcy. The law requires that you take this course within 45 days after your 341 Meeting.
Is Evergreen Financial Counseling approved to issue certificates of completion?
Yes. Evergreen Financial Counseling is approved to issue certificates evidencing completion of credit counseling or personal financial management instructional courses in compliance with the Bankruptcy Code. Approval does not endorse or assure the quality of the provider's services.

How do I pass the course?
Just get comfortable, sit down, and complete the class. As long as you complete the entire course, you will receive the Certificate of Completion required by the law.
How much does the course cost?
The cost for the course is $39.99 per person/couple for the internet and telephone courses.
How will I pay for the course?
You or your attorney may pay online by debit card, credit card, or paypal, or you can mail in a check/money order to our PO box. If you choose to pay by money order or check, your account will be activated as soon as the payment is received.
Can my attorney pay for the course?
Yes.
Where can I take the course?
You may take the course from any location with internet or telephone access such as your home, your office, your attorney's office, a public library or an internet cafe. The internet course is available to you at any time, 24 hours a day.
Once I've started the course, can I stop and start the course again at a later time?
Yes. You can start, stop and save your course whenever you like and log in and out as many times as you need. You can go at your own pace.
How will I receive my Certificate of Completion?
At the time of registration, you can choose to have your Certificate of Completion emailed, mailed, or faxed to you and/or your attorney. You may also retrieve your Certificate of Completion by logging into your account and clicking on "Certificate of Completion" at the bottom of the page. Once you click on "Certificate of Completion", you can open, download and/or print your Certificate of Completion. You will need Adobe Reader to open and print your certificate of completion. Please allow at least 24 hours after completing your course, before logging into your account to retrieve your certificate. If you do not have Adobe Reader, you may download it for free at www.adobe.com.
Who else can receive my certificate?
You will have the option of having a copy of your certificate emailed or faxed to your attorney.
Can I get my certificate on the same day I complete the course?
We are very popular with clients and attorneys because we can get your certificate to you on the same day! When you register for the course, you will need to select the "Email" option as how you want the certificate sent to you. If you've taken your course in the late evening hours, you will usually have it the next morning (email only).
What if I originally wanted the certificate mailed to me but now I changed my mind and want it emailed or faxed?
Simply email us your request at info@evergreenclass.com and we will email or fax it to you and/or your attorney.
What if I want an additional copy of my certificate at a later time?
You may log in to your account with your username/password and download a copy of your certificate. Or you can always email or call us with any requests.

What information will I need to provide to register for a course
Your full name
The district you filed your bankruptcy case in
Your bankruptcy case number (For the Personal Financial Management Course)
Your address
Your phone number
Your attorney's name and email (if you are represented by an attorney)
Verification that you are actually the person taking this course
In a joint bankruptcy case, does my spouse have to take the course separately?
You may register together and you only have to pay once, but you will each need a separate username and password. If you wish to take it together, you will need to enter in both usernames when taking the class.
What do I do with the Certificate of Completion?
You or your attorney (if you have one) will need to file your Certificate of Completion with the Bankruptcy Court.
What if I cannot afford to pay for the course?
The course fee will be waived if your attorney is providing legal services for free, you are on disability, or your income is below 150% of your states poverty line. If interested in receiving a waiver, please see instructions on the About Us page.
Course and briefing materials are provided through the Internet via an interactive learning module. The Internet course can be accessed online 24 hours a day / 7 days a week and 365 days a year at the student's convenience. Educators are available via telephone to provide further instruction and to certify completion from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. Pacific Standard Time (PST). Educators are not available on Saturday and Sundays by telephone, but will still make all efforts possible to respond to emails within 12 hours.
